Drax Golf Club is a private Golf Club, with
a 9 hole course, soon to become 13 holes. The course currently
has 1 par 5, 6 par 4's and 2 par 3's; there are 11 tees to give some
variety. We are opening a further 4 holes as soon as we are able,
3 of which were paid for by Sport England - seeDevelopment
to
13 holes and News. The land on
which
the course is located was originally used by the Power Station during
its construction. After extensive landscaping, including the planting
of a large variety and number of trees, the course was officially
opened in 1990.
The
legacy
from the area's history, is a most interesting course with gently
sloping fairways and picturesque views which are unexpected as the
surrounding area is predominantly flat. The
Clubhouse is situated
opposite Drax Power Station, some 6 miles south of Selby - see the Map.
Subscriptions -The
current subs are -
adults £260, family (ie the second or more adult(s) in a family)
pay £234. Juniors pay £60 and students (ie over 18's
in further education) pay £130. There is also a compulsory
subscription to the Sports & Social Club of £25 (£12.50
for over 65's). Members are now taken on via a "rolling program",
ie golfers can join at any time and their year will start from that
date; there is also a credit system so that payment can be spread over
six months. We have a total
of just over 400
Members, with a thriving Juniors Section of around 40
Juniors, and
around
30 in the
Ladies Section. We try to keep
total Membership to reasonable
numbers to ensure that there is no overcrowding.
